The company was previously known as Nippon Columbia before October 1, 2002, the label subsequently reverted to the Nippon Columbia name on October 1, 2010. This label is unrelated to Columbia, the label under Sony Music Entertainment.
Corporate History
1910 - founded as Nippon Phonograph Co.
1931 - adopted the Columbia brand name from Columbia UK and affiliated itself with the Columbia Graphophone Company of the UK.
1946 - changed its name to Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd.
Oct 1, 2002 - changed its name to Columbia Music Entertainment, Inc.
Oct 1, 2010 - returned to its current name Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd.
