BRAT

This is more then an ablum, it is a cultural reset for the west.

Many have said that proper "pop" music has long since died, but I recall this sentiment being used many times through out the decades - often when the individual is nostalgic for the pop of their youth which has since passed and developed into something new. I have to admit I fall into this camp, longing for the wonderful pop sounds of my younger days and finding most pop music produced post-2012 kinda naff.

Charli xcx however is one of various pop artists who are riding the current wave of change in pop music, evolving it further for the tastes of the youth of today - and for once I don't entirely hate it. BRAT (or is it just brat) is a pretty good pop record, and the viral tracks from the album which are doing mega numbers on platforms like TikTok really stand out here. I think what I enjoy the most here is the heavy prevalance of electropop and use of synthesizers which allow the album to become more dynamic and textured in the melodies it presents. The lyrical content here isn't of much influence on me, I am certainly not the target demographic for that, but I can certainly enjoy the final package.

Here's to hoping that the future of pop music is looking a little bit brighter from now on!
