Blue Lines

There are currently 2 Discogs versions attached to this release. The first one was glass mastered by EMI Swindon and the second was glass mastered elsewhere, possibly by EMI Uden. Both were pressed in Uden and have their distinct "father-mother-stamper-NL" code, e.g. 1-1-2-NL for a Swindon GM or 2-1-14-NL for a GM manufactured elsewhere.
Both versions have similar artwork (currently an identical back inlay, not only the same print, but the same picture) and they may be considered to be the same release. Nevertheless, they have certainly different disc IDs which would make it possible to split them into separate releases.

Manufacturing details

The Swindon version was most likely first manufactured in 1994. In Uden mould SIDs where introduced early and 2 documented variants have no mould SIDs.
The manufacturing date of the other version depends on where it was glass mastered. Father copies were numbered with "2" (first number of the Uden stamper code) and were certainly used later. This could be shortly after, if the glass master was made by another plant, or approx. 1996 when Uden started to write their own glass masters. This version has still no mastering SID and lacks the characteristic Uden glass mastering code (including "EMI UDEN"). Actually, the glass master lacks any characteristic information and little is known about the first glass masters manufactured in Uden.
There are further 2 variants entered with no version number "3" after the label cat# and symbol part (786228 2 @). The version number might be omitted by mistake or it could be an earlier version, but they have the same father code "2" and are more likely erroneous entries.
Mould SIDs of discs pressed in Uden have a logo-style "ifpi" part and (until much later) a number starting with "15".
